Obituary for Alan W. Hockenjos

Alan Wayne Hockenjos, died 1/10/19 at age 74 after a shocking and unexpected attack from esophageal cancer and its treatments. He now rests in the arms of the Beloved Jesus Christ.
Alan was born in Newark, NJ and was raised in Union, NJ. Alan is the son of the late August and Dorothy Hockenjos of Union, NJ. Alan was predeceased by his parents and his beloved nephew Wayne Alan Russo, who was murdered by Terrorists on 9/11/01 at the World Trade Center in NYC.
Alan and the love of his life, his beloved wife Virginia, celebrated 40 years together. Virginia was devoted to and cared for Alan in every way until his last day.
Alan owned and operated his own Painting Business before joining NJ Bell Telephone in the late 1960’s. Alan worked in Logistics Management for over 32 years when he retired from Bell Atlantic (NJ Bell). His skill sets included telephone installation, locker management, and Class A Tractor Trailer license with Tanker and Hazmat Endorsements.
After living for several years at the NJ shore and Burlington County for 16 years, Alan and Virginia moved to Kunkletown, PA, where they have lived for over 21 years.
Alan attended The House on the Rock Family Church in Wind Gap, PA, where through the inspirational Bible teachings of Pastor James Petrow , Alan was saved and reunited with our Lord Jesus Christ.
His greatest pleasures in life were worshipping our Lord Jesus Christ, being with his family, caring for his wife’s organic garden and property, traveling and working on his restored Monte Carlo. He and his wife Virginia spent all their time together, enjoying each other’s company until his last days.
He was an avid NY Yankee and Giants Fan. Alan was a master of many trades, he excelled in woodworking, electrical projects, home improvements, auto repair and just about anything he investigated was not beyond his ability. He enjoyed observing and feeding his beautiful Pennsylvania birds, the visiting wild turkey families and he provided food and water for the daily Crow meetings in the front yard. He and his wife adopted 6 chickens, learned how to care for them and found that they provided love and comfort - “there are no small miracles”. He was a great lover of animals and practiced animal rescue, having had over 34 cats and dogs grace his home throughout the years. He could not tolerate animal abuse or cruelty of any kind.
He is survived by his beloved wife Virginia, his son and daughter-in-law; retired Army SSG. Greg and Sherri Hockenjos, sister Arlene Russo of Union, his late brother-in-law Arthur Russo, niece Lynne Linale of Jackson and her husband Mario, great niece Jordan Wayne Linale and great nephews Justin Wayne, Jesse Wayne and Jared Wayne Linale.
He is also survived by his sister-in-law Kristina Wysocki of Palmerton, PA, and mother-in-law Olga Wysocki of Parlin, NJ.
He will be sorely missed by additional family members including his treasured: Ronnie, Lily , Rosey, Callie, Timmy, Cubby, Shadow, Georgy, Spooky , Ginger, Paddy, Tina and Angel – plus the Chickies : Bette Davis, Greta Garbo and Marilyn Monroe and Jackie, Zena, Cocoa, Danny and Rex.
Faithfully waiting and now reunited with Alan are : Misha, Kamon, Reddy, Mister, Mikey, Sasha, Mitty, Googy, Rocky, Petey, Mokey, Mimi, Buddy, Footie, Missy, Rudy ,Vinny, Ivan, Bear, Mickey, Lizzie, Midnight, Rita Hayworth, Olivia DeHavilland, Scarlett O’Hara and Buffy.

In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to Animal Rescue through the Bobby Gunther Walsh Radio Show, Camp Pappillon , Awsom Animals or make a donation at your local Animal Vet Hospital to assist a needy Senior Citizen pay for veterinary treatment for their pet.
Cremation will take place at Gower Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., Route 209, Gilbert. There are no services scheduled at this time.
