Obituary for John J. Dworak

John J. Dworak, age 73 of Kunkletown, formerly of Paterson, North Plainfield, Westfield and Bloomingdale, NJ, passed away suddenly on Friday, June 28th at his home.
John was born in Paterson, NJ on October 25, 1945 son of the late Joseph John and Cecelia (Dembek) Dworak.
He was the husband of Elizabeth (Roche) Dworak. They celebrated their 7th Wedding Anniversary on June 23rd.
John had worked as a Computer Programmer for IBM in Poughkeepsie, NY for 23 years. Most recently he had worked for Bank of New York Mellon in NYC, NY for 2 years as a consultant and 10 years as the Vice President of Software Quality Engineering.
John was an active member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Roman Catholic Church in Gilbert where he was active in the church Sunday Community suppers, the Contemporary Choir, served on the flea market committee, volunteered for bereavement luncheons, was a member of the men’s group. He was recently elected to the parish council. He was a Parish Health Minister and also a member of the Msgr. Connel Mchugh Council 7141 of Brodheadsville and Father Butler Assembly 980 in Stroudsburg. John loved woodworking and built and repaired many items for his church and family members. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting, fishing and camping and was a creative prankster when the situation warranted.
John also was active in the Marriage Enrichment Book Club at St. Mary’s in Pompton Lakes, NJ and belonged to the Men’s Cornerstone Group of St. Helen’s in Westfield, NJ.
He served our country with dedication and courage in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War.
In the midst of things we cannot understand, Lord bring us peace as we remember the love that John gave to this world. He will be deeply missed by his loving wife Elizabeth (Roche) Dworak of Kunkletown; his daughter Catherine Dworak of Somerville, NJ; his son: Kevin Dworak and his wife Mary Ann of Silver Spring, MD; his grandchildren: Brandon Abplanap, Cecelia Dworak, Andrea Dworak; three stepdaughters: Marie Cooke New and her husband Brad of Yukon, OK; Alexa Margaret Romeo of Lake Wallenpaupack and Melissa Anne Rowen and her husband Daniel of Caldwell, NJ, and grandfather to his 8 step grandchildren.
John is also survived by a brother: Bob Dworak and his wife Brenda of Easley, SC and a brother in law: Bill Boer and his wife Maureen of Hackettstown, NJ and several nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his 1st wife: Carolyn (Boccafogli) Dworak and a sister: Joanne Dworak Boer.
Family and friends are welcome to offer condolences on Monday, July 1st from 5 pm until 8 pm with Vigil prayers and the Knights of Columbus offering a decant of the Rosary at Gower Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., Rt. 209, Gilbert, PA. Additional viewing will be held Tuesday, July 2nd from 9:30 until 10:30 am at the funeral home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 am, Tuesday, July 2nd at Our Lady Queen of Peace Roman Catholic Church, Route 209, Gilbert/Brodheadsville.
Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
