Obituary for Marie L. Burger

Marie L. Burger, 67, of Kunkletown, passed onto ever lasting peace with her family by her side on August 31, 2019, at Pleasant Valley Manor in Stroudsburg.
Born on April 7, 1952, she was the adopted daughter of the late Merritt and Virginia (Smale) George.
She was the loving wife of Dale W. Burger. They would have celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary on September 12th.
Marie worked as a beautician in her own shop and others for over 20 years. After having her daughter, she began working as a Cafeteria worker in the Pleasant Valley School District for over 20 years.
Marie loved to cook and bake and had a love of canning pickles, jelly and spaghetti sauce. She enjoyed decorating for the holidays, and to work on jigsaw puzzles. She also had a great love for flowers of all kinds and spent countless hours making displays for the West End Fair with her daughter.
In her later years, Marie had a love of traveling and exploring new places. In 2010 the family took a vacation to Alaska to celebrate Adrienne’s college graduation and to celebrate their 40th Wedding Anniversary. She was able to enjoy both the Grand Canyon and other National Parks as well as a trip to see the tulips and windmills in Amsterdam with her husband.
Marie was strong-willed women who did not take no for an answer. In everything she did, she was determined to see it through until the very end, no matter what the cost. She taught us all what it meant to be tough and to fight. We can only hope to be just as strong in the days ahead.
We are thankful for Marie’s presence in our lives and for the way her love touched our hearts forever. She will be deeply missed by her loving husband Dale, her daughter Adrienne (Burger) Gray and her husband William of Palmerton, brother in law: Larry Burger and his wife Lori of Kunkletown, a nephew: Jeremy Burger and his wife Terri of Palmerton, and her great nieces and nephews: Jacob, Mason, Autumn and Jordyn and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her brother Kevin George, her adoptive parents Merritt and Virginia (Smale) George, and her niece Charity Burger.
At Marie’s request, the family will gather for a celebration of her life at 11 am, Friday, September 6th Gower Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., Route 209, Gilbert with Rev. Dean Frey officiating.
Family and friends are welcome to offer condolences on Thursday, September 5th from 6-8 pm and Friday, September 6th from 10 am until time of service at the funeral home.
Marie will be buried in the family plots at Jerusalem Lutheran Cemetery in Trachsville.
