Obituary for William T. Morrison

Beloved Husband, Father, and Grandfather

William T. Morrison, age 74, of Effort, PA passed away surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, January 31, 2019 at St. Luke's Hospital Monroe Campus in Stroudsburg.
William was the loving and devoted husband of Lois (Friscia) Morrison. They celebrated 48 years of marriage on November 21st.
He was born in Washington Heights, NY on June 19, 1944, son of the late William J. and Margaret (Walsh) Morrison.
He served our country in the United States Army with dedication, honor, and courage from December 1962 until December 1965. He was awarded several military honors for his service.
William worked as a Cable Splicer for the former New York Telephone (now Verizon) in New York, NY for 31 years. After his retirement, William and Lois opened a unique shop of gifts and collectibles in Brooklyn, NY. Their shop, The Vortex Tour, was a source of pride and fulfillment for William, allowing him to develop talents he had not previously realized he possessed. He truly enjoyed interacting with clientele who quickly became friends to him and his family.
He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers and the Communications Workers of America. He was also a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Gilbert. In his spare time after retirement, he enjoyed designing and constructing model train layouts and dollhouses as gifts for his dear grandchildren. He was blessed with a sharp mind and an abiding sense of curiosity, and was always engaged in learning about new subjects; his generous heart found great enjoyment in sharing this knowledge with family and friends.
We give thanks for the precious time we shared with William. He was deeply dedicated to the health, well-being, and happiness of his family. He was a true “family man” who found his greatest joy in special moments shared with his beloved wife, children, and grandchildren. He also had a big place in his heart for the family pets. He could often be found with a cat cuddled at his side, a dog resting at his feet, or both. His gentle heart and strong spirit made him easy to love.
His entire family holds dear their cherished memories of William. He will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Lois and his daughters, Kathleen Morrison and Kristie Lynn Koerner, and her husband James, all of Effort. He will be forever remembered with love and gratitude by his adoring grandchildren: Dakota Koerner, Noah Morrison, and Riley Koerner. His grandchildren meant the world to him and each held a special place in his heart. Of all the gifts he was given, his grandchildren were the ones he treasured most.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Lily Koerner, who he loved with all his heart.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 AM, Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Gilbert.
Family and friends are welcome to offer condolences on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 from 10 AM until time of Mass at the church.
Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
